Since we're in the need of some scratch to take on the tiger-headed bad guys, I thought I'd start a thread on earning some extra income. My second idea is long term and won't help us while we're on a time-table, but maybe we could try to earn some additional cash in between adventures.
Quick cash: We could sell the aquatic scale mail, bull rush whip and instant tent. Randy, could you please give us sale prices on each item? Anyone else have something valuable and non-essential to sell?
Long term plan: According to Dragonmarked, House Orien sometimes sends teams into the Mournland to explore the rail lines to see what kind of shape they are in. Conceivably we could get paid by the house to go do a little treasure hunting.
Other ideas?

We could kill a bunch of Silver Flame paladins and see what they're carrying.
Good idea. If anyone is going to have a holy weapon...
Yes, but if you did that, you might find you had trouble *holding* the holy weapons anymore. :)
Despite the many and varied skills of the party, only Pel has Appraise, and only at a cursory level. Since these magic items are rare and unusual, he isn't able to give you a very good value on them.
The guess is that the weapon and armor would be in the neighborhood of 2-4,000 gold total, and who knows if the tent is remarkably valuable (in the thousands of gold) or just a useful tool (in the hundreds).
Selling now will get you less money than selling in the shop, but will take a lot less time.
In terms of quick cash, you might consider taking out a loan from certain criminal elements (which would cost you between 15-20% of the loan each week in payments, and criminal organizations are much more careful about checking traveling papers for forgeries and such, so you couldn't have, say, Gareth take out a loan and then vanish from the planet).
House Kundarak tends to only lend to royalty, Houses and such large organizations, but since you have a personal banker, he might be able to offer you a loan. Unfortunately, the best asset you have to get a loan against (Gareth's Gear) is something you can't admit to owning.
Lady Elaydren is rich, and might be able to float you some money, given the many services you've performed for her.
As for making back the money on any of these loans, in addition to expeditions into the Mournland, there's always an expedition into Xen'drik. If you can get one of your patrons to secure a letter of marque, you can probably get down there and find out about some likely treasure sites from Brand's father.
You also might consider asking the Cardinal for a monetary reward if you stop the attempt on his life, but having a high-level Cleric of the Flame owing you a favor might be worth more than mere gold or platinum.
By the way, I've updated the party treasure according to all the gold you've been spending, and you guys have emptied the House Kundarak account and are down to 10 pp and about 70 silver in party treasure.
So it's probably time to start using personal money on whatever you need until you can build the treasure level back up.
I'm all for more adventure in Xen'drik, of course!!
Okay, I wrote that last quick missive after getting home late/early from Half Ass a Thon. To clarify, I will always prefer Xen'drik not just because it is a cool setting, but because there are so many hooks for Brand personality-wise with his father there. Plus Brand is working on making himself and his father invaluable links between House Orien and Xen'drik. Therefore, as far as Brand is concerned, it's Xen'drik or bust!
IN the mean time, we still have this assassination to thwart or at least find out what's happening. Can't let it lie, that's a reputation killer if it gets out.
Xendrik works for me, as would some old Hobgoblin tomb or ruins in the demon wastes. Lys is all about interesting diversions.
So for our current problem, I think Lady Elaydren is probably our best bet for low interest loan with fewer chances of getting our legs broken. However, she may be on her honeymoon which could make things problematic.
Another possibility would be to approach someone in the Church of the Silver Flame to get Holy weapons on loan to thwart an assassination attempt. Perhaps our Paladin friend from Luggoth's first adventure could vouch for us?
And finally, what about our contact with the King's Dark Lanterns? They wouldn't care about the Silver Flame, but they might not be to keen on the Lords of Dust getting a toehold in Thrane.
methinks that last idea has much merit. Better connections with the homecountry, less stress.
I should add that two of us could ask our houses for help.
