Only thing Pel RREEEEAAALLLYYYY wants is the Ring of invis. None of the weapons would be suitable for him, really.

Right now he has +1 slick (helps escape artist) studded leather armor. The +2 glamered studded would boost AC by 1, and so is attractive.

+2 Twilight Leather Armor reduces chance of arcane spell failure - Maechen or Lys should probably get that.

Hat of Anonimity gives +10 hide...very, very nice. Pel licks his lips over that one.

Eternal wand of cure mod would be nice too...and appropriate, I think.

Also please remind us what the bolt shirt does. Can't find a description online anywhere. Found a pic, though.

So basically, in order of preference, Pel would like:

1. Ring of Invisibility
2. +2 Glamered Studded Leather
OR +2 Ring of Protection (I'd accept both of course)
3. Hat of Anonymity
4. Eternal Wand of Cure Moderate
5. Bolt Shirt?

Don't need invisibility ring, although there are some good parts to it, but eventually my spell duration will improve. I'm happy with my armor and being a bard keeps my arcane spell failure at bay. Hat? I have one. I think I'd like the Ring of Protection best of all, but hey, who wouldn't?

Bolt shirt allows a 1/day dimension leap of up to 60', like a weak version of Brand's dimension leap ability.

Brand's main goals are to 1) boost his swords and 2) make himself less easy to kill so he can try to keep up with Luggoth a little more.

The weapons aren't much good to him, but it would be great to sell them to pump up his swords. It might also be a nice idea to get a +1 bludgeoning weapon to overcome damage reduction. And maybe enchant his Adamantine Longsword to +1 for the same purpose (Luggoth should have a +1 Adamantine weapon as well if we can swing it). Essentially, a magic weapon of each damage type would be useful at higher levels. Also, I'm thinking that as much as I'd like to add Keen to my rapier, perhaps making it Holy would be a smart move given that we've just pissed off the Lords of Dust and are getting into demon and devil fighting levels. But the +1 Hunting Longbow is a must have since it boosts something against his favored enemies. (Can anyone tell me what it does?)

For armor, while the +2 Glamered Studded Leather is appealing, I'd be trading the +1 AC boost for a -1 Armor Check Penalty and a +5 max dex bonus. The Amulet of Health +2 is also tempting for the hit point bonus, but he'd have to lose +1 to AC by dropping his Amulet of Natural Armor +1. But the Ring of Protection +2 or Cloak of Minor Displacement could be very useful.

On the other items, a few of those are very attractive. The Hat of Anonymity would boost his Hide up to +24, but perhaps that would be more useful to someone else given his already high bonus. And the Cloak of Arachnida would be very cool. Imagine him teleporting to a wall and fighting from there. Could be handy for flanking someone who is up against a wall. Plus being able to cast Web once a day could come in handy.

So here's the breakdown after my long-winded explanation:

1. Sell weapons to boost Brand's blades and round out the arsenal against damage reduction. Plus the +1 Hunting Longbow.
2. Minor Cloak of Displacement or Ring of Protection +2 (poss. in combination with Amulet of Health +2).
3. Cloak of Arachnida.
4. A few healing potions of at least Cure Moderate are a must to keep up with Luggoth.

Okay, that list makes it look like Brand wants nearly everything, but he's also down with selling some of this stuff towards a new investment. Any ideas? Land deal (depending on how things have gone in the last few months)? A buidling with rental income? Perhaps our very own airship we can charter out when we're not using it? (or crashing it...)

BTW, Randy, can Brand earn a higher salary from the House now that he can Teleport?

Other than a potion or two, all Luggoth would really want is one of the +2 Greataxes. As a matter of honor, he'll probably be burying his +1 Greatsword at the site of his choldhood home, along with Suthar's head.

So first choices look something like this:

Pel: Ring of Invisibility
Lysander: Ring of Protection +2
Brand: Sell weapons/boost swords, +2 Hunting Bow
Luggoth: Great Axe +2
Maechen: +2 Twilight Leather Armor (Dave, I'm making an assumption here. Please chime in and give us Maechen's list of what he wants).

Second choices looks like:
Pel: +2 Glamered Studded Leather
Lysander: ??
Brand: Minor Cloak of Displacement
Luggoth: Potions
Maechen: ??

How does this sound so far? Second choices for Lysander and Maechen?

It'll probably be a little while before Dave chimes in, as he's off for a week's vacation as of tomorrow.

Randy Lander said...

Oh, and that's a +1 Hunting Bow, Paul, you cheater. ;)

Paul Benjamin said...

Whoops, my bad on the bow. I was in a hurry, not cheating. What does the "Hunting" property do, BTW? Something against favored enemies, right?

Randy Lander said...

The hunting bow increases your damage by 4 against favored enemies.

Randy, in calculating the values of the magic weapons we found, how much are they worth through Gareth's gear? Is it normally 75% of the value? Would that apply for these weapons?

Also, how much gold can I get for the +1 Brutal Surge whip? It would normally be a +2 weapon but you suggested I might be able to get a little more since it is unique. My goal is to sell that to defray the cost of making my short sword of shock fit the rules by becoming a +1 short sword of shock (With the least impact on the party's overall treasure).

BTW all, we should probably wait on word from Dave before selling off the weapons. Since he's a barbarian, he may want to get his hands on something in the list.

And can Tock help boost items or create new ones? He can make scrolls, potions, wands, arms/armor and wonderous items now, right?

Welll.... that's a more complicated question than you might think. I'll get back to you when I get a chance to do some more writing on the campaign, after Dave gets back from vacation, or maybe sooner if I've got some free time at the shop.

And can Tock help boost items or create new ones? He can make scrolls, potions, wands, arms/armor and wonderous items now, right?

Again, a slightly more complicated question than it might immediately appear.
