Characters are to be of NINTH level. This is a change based on an extra pc and some guidelines from the adventure. Standard array, just like our other Ebberon campaigns. Assign equipment and gold as per the rules for higher level pc's (it's in the character generator).
The first adventure will begin in the Spring of 998, location on Khorvaire tbd after I see the character builds.
It is imperative because of level and the start year that you know what your character was doing during the Last War because undoubtedly you were of a level to be involved just a few short years ago, four since the fall of Cyre, two since the Treaty of Thronehold. Background may not always affect this particular adventure cycle, but it does affect what happens in between and how you deal with each other, of course.
You will begin play as an established adventuring company in part or as a whole so previous connections are necessary. You will begin play with a drama die if you are connected to another pc in a significant way. Make sure you know your character because I am likely to put you in bonus situations where it will matter. :)
It is generally my style to smooth out problems during play so play what you want, I dig variety as long as it doesn't cross over into silly, not something I expect from this group.
So far I have these sketches:
Ben-Hafling Rogue-Traditional Sneak
Chris-Human Warlord-Did I hear that right?, Cyran would be great, angst!
Randy-Elven Paladin from Aerenal-Cool and prolly a hair creepy, much fun.
Nate-Minotaur Monk-Cannot. Wait. For. This.
Dan-Cool Psion with a touch of Bard or Gnome Slinger Rogue or something else....
Paul-I can't remember what you told me, sorry, I wouldn't know the others if they weren't written.
So:
Striker, Leader, Defender, Striker, and Controller or Striker (ranged) and Paul. (I think Paul is a Bard with a touch of Psion! LOL)
Okay, let the games begin. Send me some backgrounds! I'll post this on the blog.
Oh, yeah, it is possible, however unlikely, that you will need a backup character. Or, um, two. :) tie them to your PC or the party and they will start with a drama die as well.

Baltazar Sandesh, Warlord 9 (played by Isiah Mustafa, aka the Old Spice Man)
Baltazar was born and raised in a ghetto in the capital city of Cyre, in a small community of Sarlonan immigrants that had moved there several generations past, escaping from the tyranny of the Inspired upon their native land. Although completely human and untainted by the influence of the outsiders, he and his neighbors were still subject to the suspiscion and predjudice that immigrants often face in new lands. Even though by Baltazar's time they had become mostly "Cyranized", there was still a degree of discomfiture among his new inlaws when he wed a young Cyran girl with whom he'd fallen in love in his 17th year.
The Sandesh family owned and operated a confectioner's stand in the local market, making all manner of sweet delights but specialising in the delicacies of their Sarlonan forebears. I imagine these to be similar to things like baklava and keer, Mediterranean and Indian sweets. As the war ground on, business for the Sandeshes fell off steadily, and Baltazar became unable to support his new wife, and now child, on the meager income of the stand. Being young and hale, he enilisted in the Cyran military, thinking he could at least send that income home, and left his young family in the care of his parents (who ran the business), and numerous siblings either too young or too old to fight.
Sandesh showed great promise in his new career, however, once again, his enthnicity proved a hindrance to his promotion. He was eventually assigned to a platoon made up of misfits, criminal conscripts, and other ethnically challenged individuals like himself, among them, oddly, a Goliath who was quite handy with a poleaxe (backup character). Their Captain, a man just past his middle years, was however very tolerant of their differences, though a stern commander and efficient warrior. He soon took a liking to the young Baltazar and promoted him to be his aide, as well as a Sergeant and squad leader.
The platoon received orders to accompany and liaise with (i.e. keep an eye on) a warband of Valenar mercenaries, on a raiding mission deep inside Darguun. They probably were not expected to return alive. There was tension between Sandesh's platoon and the Valenar Elves, as the assignment came post-rebellion, but Baltazar did his best to smooth things over and keep everyone working together, for the sake of their very survival on this dangerous mission.
These efforts were to prove invaluable in the coming weeks as The Mourning struck and they all found themselves cut off in enemy territory. They made their way back, taking heavy losses, including the platoon Captain, forcing Baltazar into more of a leadership role. Very few survived this expedition, but all have maintained a strong fraternal bond.
Baltazar once attempted to return to Cyre, now the Mournland, to try to find his young wife and child. He did not have to venture far within its deadly mists, or witness many of its horrors, to completely despair of their survival. Though he does not know for certain they are gone, he now lives as if that is the case, seeking adventure to quell his anguish, fighting alongside his new brothers, the only family he now has.
Sometimes, in the dead of night, when nightmares haunt him and he cannot sleep, he allows himself to hope that they made it out, and are somewhere safe and happy and alive.
Erich Neel, Tiefling Psion 9(Bard multiclass)
The descendant of a noble house of Ohr Kaluun in Sarlona that escaped the Inspired into Syrkarn, Erich Neel was born with a remnant of the power of his ancestors- he could hear the music of the immortals. Unfortunately, as his ancestors drew power from a mad devil, those immortals are the mindless musicians of Xoriat, and their tunes drive mortals to insanity. With nowhere left to turn, Erich's parents approached a mystic of Adar for help, who recognized the danger and took him back to Adar. Erich was given a combination of musical and psionic training there that allowed him to shut out the maddening sounds and protect his mind, and he grew to manhood thinking of himself as a scion of Adar. On the day of the Mourning, Erich heard the maddening music again for the first time in years, and it took hours to finally shut it out. After consulting with his masters and determining that something horrific had occurred on Khorvaire, he set sail, determined to find out how it was connected to his own problem and dedicated to quieting the singers once and for all. Once he arrived, he met ... some other guys, I guess?
