Brand's Holiday Shopping Guide

Just a few thoughts as we go up against the likes of William and his vampire brood as well as our old friends from the Lords of the Dust. Seeing as we have some shopping to do, we should probably each load up on a few affordable items that can make a big difference against our anticipated foes.

Silversheen: At 250 gold a shot, this is a very useful item for making any of our weapons useful against vampires. Let's learn from our mistakes in Ravenloft and make sure everyone can hurt our vampire buddies.

Oil of Bless Weapon: I was originally looking at an expensive magic sheath that would make my piercing rapier a match for a rakshasha 3 times/day, but for only 100 gold I can buy some oil to mimic the effect. Several vials of this would mean that we wouldn't be as reliant on Pel for a spell that would bless our weapons. (The weapon is treated as having a +1 enhancement bonus for the purpose of bypassing the damage reduction of evil creatures or striking evil incorporeal creatures (though the spell doesn’t grant an actual enhancement bonus). The weapon also becomes good, which means it can bypass the damage reduction of certain creatures.)

Potions:
Protection From Evil could be useful against domination and a potion only costs 50 gold. If some of us spend 750 gold, we could even get a few potions of Magic Circle vs. Evil so that even if one person is dominated, another party member could get near them and prevent any new orders from being given while they remain in the circle.

Randy, please let me know if I've misunderstood any of this information. Thanks!

Good tips. I would add some scrolls of restoration to that as well. Pel's going to pick up a buncha scrolls anyway.

Brand is now fully updated with all his new purchases (and I erased the handful of things he sold, like his old Gloves of Dexterity +2 that no one needed).

FYI for anyone who's interested, here's what he got:
His +1 Rapier is now Keen as well.
His Short Sword of Shock is now +1.
He got a Light Mace for bludgeoning.
Hat of Disguise
Gloves of Dexterity +4
Golembane Scarab (Nate, please give Luggoth the Adamantine Longsword)
Vest of Resistance +1
Silversheen (4 - I got extra since Brand has 2 weapons)
Oil of Bless Weapon (3)
Oil of Magic Weapon (2 - for the aforementioned mace)
Potion of Protection from Evil (2)
Potion of Hide from Undead
Scroll of Restoration (he can't cast it, but Pel can)
Crystal of Lifekeeping (Randy, this is from the Magic Item Compendium. You attach it to your armor and it gives a +1 on saves vs. life drain, death attacks and something else along those lines.)
Daylight Pellet (2) These make an area of bright light to counteract Darkness spells in case we run into Xen'drik Drow.
